MASTER CLASS DANZA CONTEMPORANEA

EVERY SUNDAY

Time and focus flexible, as you wish

The master class group in the studio, all holding a shared pose

The Master Class by Ana Belkis Zamora is an intensive training, built on Danza Contemporanea de Cuba with movements from timba and rumba cubana. In these two hours we train our mobility, precision and anticipation through practised sequences and exercises.

The aim is that every dancer trains with themselves in a concentrated setting, and that together we create a trust and an energy in the room, in order to expand our maximum potential and presence.

Timba cubana is danced with salsa and lives from sexy, quickly executed hip and shoulder movements.

Rumba cubana is a seductive, playful interaction between woman and man; we concentrate on ladystyle.

In the master class we train, among other things, the coherence of the movement and the connection through the whole body, as well as precision and the ability to improvise. The best preparation for a Cuban-style fiesta, then.

Philosophy Workshops

At Afro Cuban Body Work, Cuban dance styles are taught in all their forms of expression on the basis of Afro-Cuban music. In the workshops, Afro Cuban Body Work works with the techniques of Cuban dance, which are built on the organic quality of the movements:

The word organic comes from organs, which form our organism. When we dance, the organs have a very important function: they are the first part on which our locomotor system is built, and they are part of our molecular identity. This in turn is connected with our anatomy, the basis of our bodily / physical identity.

When we observe these structures consciously, we can see and experience the organic functioning of our movements. In other words: it is as if the inner mechanics of our body were built like the production processes in a factory: everything interlocks.

When we are conscious of this sequence while dancing and are in connection with our body, we feel where the impulse for each movement should start. This gives us both greater control and a better effectiveness for what we want to express when we dance.
